Our Team

Our team is comprised of innovative professionals with diverse backgrounds and expertise.  Most of our professionals originated from big 4 accounting firms with a common goal to provide high quality, timely and cost effective valuation services to our clients.  PLC uses professionally accepted valuation methods to help clients identify and understand the economic value of tangible and intangible assets, business enterprises, and capital stocks.

Peter Hagialas is the Founder and a Managing Director of Porto Leone Consulting, LLC (“PLC”) and has responsibility for a variety of projects including the valuation of tangible assets for purchase price allocation, financing, tax and depreciation purposes, property tax analysis, operational and technical due diligence reviews, and cost segregation studies.

Pete has extensive experience in machinery and equipment valuation and cost segregation studies in the telecommunications, healthcare, hospitality, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, aerospace and defense, and commercial real estate industries.

During his career, Pete has conducted on-site inspections of over 2,000 properties, and his technical reviews and valuations have appeared in reports for a variety of organizations. Pete has also provided expert analysis in support of property tax and other litigation cases in local, state, and federal court.

Prior to the founding of PLC, Pete held the position of Director with Standard & Poor’s Corporate Value Consulting and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP’s tangible asset valuation groups, and was responsible for the development of their machinery & equipment and national cost segregation practices. In addition, Pete was also responsible for establishing and developing the machinery and equipment valuation and cost segregation practices in the Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA offices of Arthur Andersen LLP.

Pete holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and continues to strengthen his credentials through technical courses and seminars associated with the valuation of machinery and equipment, telecommunications system design, maintenance and construction, contemporary infrastructure studies, and new technology reviews. Pete is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (“ASA”) as designated by the American Society of Appraisers and maintains comprehensive relationships with numerous design, manufacturing and construction firms.

Eric H. Hencken is a Managing Director with Porto Leone Consulting, LLC (“PLC”) and is responsible for managing tangible asset valuations and cost segregation studies.  

Eric’s valuation and cost segregation background prior to PLC included Standard & Poor’s Corporate Value Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Value Consulting and Arthur Andersen’s Valuation Services Group.  

Eric has extensive experience in tangible asset valuations for tax, book, insurance placement, due diligence, and business planning purposes in the Healthcare, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Chemical, Food Processing, Cable and Telecommunications industries nationally and internationally.  Eric has also performed and managed cost segregation studies on hundreds of properties, including hotels, senior living facilities, manufacturing facilities, research & development facilities, office buildings, hospitals, golf courses, and retail properties.  He has also been a speaker at several seminars and conferences on the topic of valuation and cost segregation.  

Eric holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (“ASA”) with the American Society of Appraisers and is a former President of the Philadelphia Chapter.  Eric is also a Senior Member of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals (“ASCSP”) and a Member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (“HFMA”).

Brad Venisnik serves as the Director of Valuations. Mr. Venisnik's responsibilities include preparing, managing, and reviewing fixed asset valuations, lifing studies, cost segregations, ghost asset reviews, and property tax appeals.

Mr. Venisnik has 20 years of Big 4 experience assisting clients in the paper & forest products, printing & publishing, iron & steel, transportation & infrastructure, retail, telecommunication, brewing, food processing, mining, and automotive industries. He has performed analyses for US GAAP, IFRS, property tax, litigation, insurable value, financing, and US federal tax.

Mr. Venisnik's work has taken him to India, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Canada, Iceland, UK, France, Belgium, Italy,
Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Finland, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, and Ukraine.

Prior to joining PLC, Mr. Venisnik was a practice leader at Ernst & Young, providing reviews and guidance to audit partners and clients in addition to serving non audit clients. He began his career at Arthur Andersen performing valuations and cost segregation studies.

Mr. Venisnik holds a BS in Architectural Engineering with a minor in Business Management from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (“ASA”) as designated by the American Society of Appraisers.

Laura E. Anastasio is a Director with Porto Leone Consulting, LLC and performs complex valuation assignments related to business and intangible asset valuation. Laura has more thanfifteen years of experience performing business valuations related to corporate M&A transactions, financial reporting and gift and estate planning. Laura has performed valuations related to ASC 718, ASC 805, ASC 350, and IFRS 3 in a variety of industries, including but not limited to, healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, distribution, business outsourced services, insurance, engineering and construction, consumer products, advertising, and technology software and services.

Prior to joining Porto Leone Consulting, Laura was a Vice President with Baker Tilly Capital, where she performed business and intangible asset valuations for financial reporting, gift and estate, and corporate planning purposes. She also supported the investment banking practice of Baker Tilly Capital in the preparation of confidential information memoranda, fairness opinions, and analytical support for corporate transactions. Laura began her career in the Transaction Advisory Services group at Ernst & Young. While at Ernst & Young, Laura prepared fixed asset valuations for purposes of assisting investors with tax economics related to sale-leaseback transactions and specialized in transportation assets.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Laura is an Accredited Senior Appraiser in Business Valuation, as designated by the American Society of Appraisers and Certified in Entity and Intangible Asset Valuation.

Walter O’Connell is a Senior Consultant with Porto Leone Consulting, LLC (“PLC”) and is responsible for managing cost segregation studies and tangible asset valuations. He has provided these services to clients in a variety of industries for over ten years.

Prior to joining PLC, Walter worked in the manufacturing and distribution sectors as an Inventory Control Manager for Newell Rubbermaid (NYSE:CHX) and Marcolin S.p.A.. While working as an Inventory Control Manager, Walter specialized in Material Requirements Planning (“MRP”) and Manufacturing Resource Planning (“MRP II”), in matters of national and international purchasing, the procurement of production equipment, plant and production design, cost allocation studies, and inventory accounting.

He has performed and managed cost segregation studies on hundreds of properties, including hotels, senior living facilities, manufacturing facilities, research & development facilities, office buildings, hospitals, and retail properties. Walter has experience in tangible asset valuations for tax, book, insurance placement, due diligence, and business planning purposes in the Healthcare, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Chemical, Food Processing, Cable and Telecommunications industries nationally.

Walter holds a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Montclair State University, Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Kean University. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (“ASA”) as designated by the American Society of Appraisers, a member of the Association of Production and Inventory Control Supervisors (“APICS”) and is an Accredited Senior Cost Segregation Professional (“SCSP”) with the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals (“ASCSP”) and is a member of the American Economic Association.
